Insurance

I currently accept Blue Cross Blue Shield including BCBS North Carolina State Health Plan insurance. I am also in the process of becoming paneled with Aetna.

I also accept self-pay clients. If you do not plan to use insurance, you are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate for services under the No Surprises Act. If you would like to bill your insurance but I am not “in-network” with your plan, upon request I can provide you with an out-of-network “superbill” statement that you can submit to your health insurance company to request reimbursement. Often, insurance companies can provide more information about a specific plan to the member (you) than to the provider (me.) Therefore, if you plan to utilize your insurance, you are responsible for contacting your insurer directly before our first appointment to learn exactly what services your plan covers, to confirm that I am “in-network” for your specific plan, and to inquire about copays, deductibles, and any other questions you may have. I make no guarantees regarding reimbursement from your insurance plan and you are ultimately responsible for payment in full. Click here for a list of suggested questions to ask your insurance provider.

Cancellations and Missed Appointments

Consistent attendance and communication are essential to our work together, and I encourage you to make every effort to attend your sessions as scheduled. If you find you must cancel an appointment please do so at least 24 hours in advance, as that time is being held specifically for you.

No-shows and sessions canceled less than 24 hours in advance of the appointment time will be charged a cancellation fee of $55, which will be billed to the client’s credit card on file. Cancellation fees are not reimbursable by insurance and are the responsibility of the client.

Reaching Me Outside of Session

I work hard to provide ethical care to my clients while also maintaining boundaries that preserve both the professional nature of the client-counselor relationship and my own self-care. As such, there are a few important things for my potential clients to know:

  • I do not accept friend/follow/message requests from current or former clients on social media (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)

  • I am generally not available after business hours or on weekends, and do not provide crisis services. (If you’re experiencing a psychological emergency, please refer to the options listed on the bottom of this page.)

  • I provide secure options for established clients to communicate with me when needed for logistical matters such as scheduling, billing questions, etc. While I do my best to respond to messages within the next business day, there may be rare exceptions.

  • In order to stay energized for my clients and for myself, I take time off from work at various times throughout the year, during which I am often out of the area and unreachable for 1-2 weeks at a time.

Service Limitations

  • I do not write letters in support of Emotional Support Animals.

  • I do not provide forensic services such as custody evaluations, assessments recommended by court, probation, ability to stand trial, etc.

  • Should your presenting concern(s) be or become out of my scope of practice, I will do my best to provide alternative referral options in order to help you receive the care you need and deserve.

Please note that this is not an exhaustive list of my practice policies nor is it intended to serve as comprehensive informed consent information. If you decide to pursue counseling with me you will be provided with such.
