Welcome!
I’m Audrey (she/her/hers.) I’m so glad you’ve taken the time to visit my website and learn more about my counseling services based in Boone, North Carolina*.
Perhaps you’ve been keeping your head above water in your day-to-day life, but find yourself worrying a lot, doubting yourself, or feeling stuck in a “funk.”
Maybe you’ve been carrying something heavy for long enough, and are ready to talk through it in an unbiased, supportive space.
Or maybe you simply want to feel heard, understood, and supported as you navigate a tough transition or loss in your life; you just need someone to be there with you while you do it.
Whatever brings you to counseling, I aim to listen with non-judgment and openness, to help you clarify your goals, and to offer support, tools, and even a gentle nudge when you need it.
While experiences like anxiety, depression, and trauma may have you feeling depleted and discouraged, I believe that counseling can help you find the most authentic and resilient version of yourself through these challenges. My genuine hope for each of my clients is that they experience greater senses of clarity, empowerment, presence, and joy in their lives as a result of our work together. We all deserve these things.
Research shows that a good relationship between counselor and client is one of the most important elements in effective therapy. I know that the decision to start counseling is often not an easy one, and that feeling a good connection with your counselor matters. I love building genuine and effective therapeutic relationships with my clients and find that empathy, authenticity, and humor are helpful tools in doing so.
I strive to offer services that are multiculturally sensitive, and inclusive and affirming of all identities. I especially enjoy working with young professionals and adults navigating change throughout the lifespan. I have experience working with a broad range of presenting concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, adjustment issues, life transitions, relationship challenges, identity-related stress, and more.
I integrate mindfulness techniques, cognitive-behavioral therapy, interpersonal processing, and other evidence-based therapeutic approaches into my work with clients. (Don’t worry if those don’t sound familiar to you- we’ll talk about it!) I also love collaborating and getting creative with my clients; whether we are having a traditional talk-therapy session or integrating art-making, together we will work to discover what’s most helpful for you.
